Ms. Cheryl Jane (Farris) Coursey, age 80, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Ms. Coursey was born on November 21, 1945, in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late C.W. Farris and Faye (Hendon) Farris. She retired from Briggs and Stratton and was a member of the New Concord Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ray Gene Coursey, Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Jenger (Coursey) DeShields of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Gaery Farris of Murray, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Ally Faye Hopkins and husband Evan and Bobby Ray DeShields all of Murray, Kentucky; as well as two great-grandchildren, Evangelina Kay Jane Hopkins and Waverly Jean Hopkins both of Murray, Kentucky.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with John Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the Hicks Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
